It is a question that arises itself more often than not, atheist are continuously asked of the terror accompanied with refuting the existence of god and the after life. The majority of people believe in a life that follows this very life. No man was ever able to bring forth evidence of such afterlife. Every attempt to do so was refuted with unquestionable contrary evidence. Believers -with the sense of the word belief-, must have faith in the afterlife, nothing else could assure such existence except for a feeling that merely exist only in their brains. On the other hand, Atheists don’t seem to have that problem. The thought of death by itself is something creatures naturally fear, every animal shows the signs of fear. Fear is closely associated with the thought of losing one’s life, or the infliction of pain. Therefore if pain is imposed; a reaction is triggered out of pure pain and fear. The human body is naturally programmed to protect itself from any threat, even if that threat wasn’t necessarily valid. For example a baby cries out of pain when a doctor is conducting an ammonization. Of course the doctor meant no harm, but to the baby the pain represented a threat, therefore a cry asking for help and out of fear was the natural reaction. |

When we reflect back to the prior example and compare it to the statement of “no after life”, one will see the similarities between them. A statement claiming “afterlife doesn’t exist” will trigger pain and fear. That very fear triggers a reaction, almost always is seen as a refusal of such claim.

Every human-being, bird, cat, fish, etc wish not to die; their struggle to survive and their avoidance to suicide proves this point. Because if a creature wished to die; it wouldn’t make much sense to keep on struggling rather than just ending its own life. So we have to go with the assumption that living things naturally just “love life”.

Thus, when faced with reality it is only natural to fear the darkness, the gloom, and the murkiness of an empty afterlife. Every atheist of religious background came across this very chilling sensation. Coldness, darkness, and staleness that bring a chocking feeling to ones throat. The feeling of agony, betrayal, and most importantly unchangeable fate. This last feeling of fate is probably what makes all of this very painful. Knowing that nothing one can do will change the outcome; brings a chilling and teeth rattling feeling that looms over their entire universe.

That state of mind slowly starts to vanish, when reality finally finds its way in to the mind, and when the unchangeable fate starts to settle in, one starts to see with clear vision that denying the truth isn’t going to change it. One aboard a doomed plane can have one of two ideologies, one: he can scream and try to defy the will of the unchangeable fate, two: he can calm down and accept the reality of the situation making the best of what he has left. Although it is clear that most people will most likely pick the first choice, an atheist had already chosen the later.

We are on a planet that is eventually doomed. No where to go no where to hide, our love for life is a mere illusion that keeps us living one day to another. No reasons to exist; truly exist, the only reasons we have are reasons that are either naturally brought upon us by nature, or reasons that emerge purely from our own thoughts. Religion, a manmade ideology, promises us with an afterlife, while nature promises us only with an unavoidable death.

When reality strikes and the death promise understood before it finds its way to a human, an atheist is born. It is very true that suicide is on most atheists mind, the statistics alone proves that atheists claim the highest rate of suicides. That is not something to be ashamed of, what to be ashamed of is to believe an illusion that only leads us to the same death that other men arrived at only with truth. To lay flat dying on the floor gazing upward thinking how such an illusion was engineered so carefully to fool one’s mind must be even more horrifying experience than simply knowing the truth before hand

It is allot more easier to accept reality, to embrace our death before it arrives, and to be truthful with ourselves, than to believe a lie that our own thought fabricates, only intending to keep away those fears until the last moment. When this fear is spread throughout one’s life the promising moment will only seem like a trickle of pain among other pains, while holding back the truth will only make a living hell in the moment of truth
